Nine Months

Yesterday was Brian's nine month well baby check (on his actual nine month birthday!). He is doing wonderfully!

Stats
Weight: 19 pounds
Length: 29 1/2 inches (seems to be all in the torso = 18 month onesies)
Head Circumferance: 44 centimeters
Teeth: 2 front bottom, working on the top ones

Brian has been cleared for table food. Yay!!! I've been giving him cheerios and banana chunks for a week or so, but now we can try other things. No restrictions. Just have to make sure everything is natural (organic). We started chicken yesterday (jar from Gerber). So far, he is Not a fan. It's the first thing I have given him that he crys after the first spoonful (mixed with pears or anything else he'll eat it, but I don't want to have to hide it to get him to eat it...). Brian is developing a sweet tooth, so we are to stay away from sweetened things (with sugar). Fruit is fine, but nothing that says "dessert" on it. We have limited success with sippy cups. The latest model is an Avent Magic Training Cup (BPA free). He has more success with this cup than he has with the other two so far.

He's being a typical baby...he gets around very well by crawling, goes after everything he should not have (his favorite things are extension or any other cords), pulls himself up on everything he can (coffee table, chairs, sofa, crib, ect.), and has started showing some real personality. He likes walks in his stroller. We've been out a couple times in the last day or so (weather has cooperated). We've played in the yard (eaten a couple violets..hey, they're harmless!).

We've switched to Beechnut baby food because it comes in glass jars. I've tried to do everything I can to lessen Brian's exposure to BPA since he was born. Hence the playtex drop in liners instead of plastic bottles. It bothers me that Gerber puts their baby food and juice in recycle number 7 plastic (I didn't realize this was bad untilthe Today Show did a special segment on it on Thursday morning with Matt Lauer). Apparently, Babies R Us will print you out a list of BPA free products. Also found this blog about companies with BPA baby feeding products, pacifers, and bottles: http://zrecs.blogspot.com/2008/02/z-report-on-bpa-in-infant-care-products.html
It's been helpful.

Growing....Again

Well, almost immediately after I wrote the last entry, the 12 month onesies were too small. So,
Brian's "current" clothing sizes are as follows:

Sleepers: The 12 month ones are almost too small. The 18 month ones are too big (by at least 4 inches)

Pants (only): 9 months size fit him perferctly(almost a little short), 12 months are a little long, and 18 months are way too long.

Shirts: Still using mostly onesies. We have a few fleecy shirts ranging from 9 months to 18 months. A few are jackets. 9 months still fit, but are snug. 12 months fit perfectly. 18 months are a little too big, but it's okay.

Onesies: Definitely the 18 month size ones. All others are way too small.

Overalls/ Shortalls: 9 months size do not fit. 12 months sizes fit. 18 month sizes are too long (like the sleepers)

Swimsuit and Rash Guard: We bought one in 18 months size. Hopefully, it still fits this summer. If not, we have the receipt and will exchange it.

Socks: We have 6-9 months and 12-24 months. All fit in varying degrees, but he now pulls them off, sooo yeah. Not too useful right now :(

We do seem to have plently of clothes for Brian. I don't want to buy anymore right now because he seems to be fitting what we have for him quite nicely. Plus, I don't want to end up with soo many clothes that he doesn't wear most of them. We're waiting for his 9 month appointment in the middle of the month to see exactly how big and tall Brian is.
